Nordics Local Chapter
The iMasons Nordics Chapter was launched in Stockholm in September 2018.
IMasons supported workshop at RISE Lulea – June 2019
Leaders from Data Centre and Telco sectors met at RISE SICS in Lulea – Europe’s leading datacentre research facility housing test implementations of Edge and 5G.
While most Infrastructure Masons EdgeMasons meetings to date have been attended predominantly by participants from the “Data Center” sector, we also invited leaders from the Telco industry to this event. Since both sectors have a major role to play in the deployment of Edge capabilities, we wanted to facilitate understanding and alignment between these two groups in terms of their view and plans for Edge – particularly with 5G in mind.
The workshop was led by Tor Björn Minde, Head of Lab at RISE SICS North and Research Strategy Ericsson & Simon Allen iMasons Executive Director – The group was split into 4 groups – care was taken to ensure a good mix of “Data Centre” and “Telco”.

Chapter Launch September 2018
Jeanette Nilsson (iM Nordic Champion 2018 – 2019) organized a private dinner on September 25th 2018 and invited regional leaders to discuss the Local Chapter Proposition and to determine what benefits could be derived from setting up an iM Nordics Chapter. For example – are there issues better addressed collectively; such as fixing the talent gap – and – as Nordics are leaders in sustainability – iM the platform to further amplify this message and share expertise and experience globally.
We clearly have very passionate and positive colleagues in Nordics – huge opportunities to drive value through cooperation – and a great story on Sustainability – something close to the heart of people who live in the Nordics.
“The Nordics have a long tradition of operating sustainable critical infrastructure – we can, and will, give back our knowledge and expertise to help the next generation build sustainable digital infrastructure” – Peder Nærbø Founder and Owner at Bulk Infrastructure AS
“We in the Nordics are very passionate about the importance of transforming the digital infrastructure industry into something that is sustainable in the long term.
I think all of us are excited about the idea of working with iMasons on important issues, including sustainability which is one of the most important tasks we have in our time.” – Patrik Öhlund (at the time) CEO at Node Pole (now Director, Energy Markets EMEA at Microsoft)
