The Infrastructure Masons Women invite you to join the Gender Parity Challenge!
What is Gender Parity? In the context of a company, parity means all genders are represented in proportion to society, and not just overall, but also by role, responsibility, and level. Measuring gender parity, especially how it changes over time, gives businesses a sense of whether we are progressing or regressing in any given area, important indicators for anyone working toward gender equality.
The digital infrastructure industry has an unprecedented opportunity to positively change the future of our industry. We can build on innovation, profitability and thought leadership by hiring more women and encouraging others to do the same.
In a Data Center survey conducted in 2020 by Uptime Institute, over 75% of participating firms responded that their data center design, build or operations staff have less than 20% of women in the organization, while 25% have no women in their organization. Numerous studies from multiple reputable companies have reported that gender diversity adds to financial returns. Companies with more women on their boards were found to outperform their rivals with a 66% higher return on invested capital and 53% higher return on equity [1]. Companies that support diversity deliver more innovation [2]. Leaders who authentically support diversity and inclusion create better working cultures [3].
To support this incredible opportunity across the industry, IM Women is launching a Gender Parity Challenge to increase awareness about this lack of diversity in the workplace. The IM Women encourage organizations to improve recruitment methods and implement education programs in order to achieve equality by 2025. The IM Women will provide a series of supporting webinars, publications and education to support your efforts!
“No matter how individual companies or managers within teams take up the call to action, building gender diversity should be everyone’s goal to enhance the productivity, effectiveness and innovation across the data center industry.”
