About the Event
In 2017, the four key data center markets in Europe—Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, and Paris—saw a 21% increase in supply, with 202MW of new capacity added, according to CBRE. London alone accounted for 45% of the 119MW in total take-up, showing that Brexit had no negative impact on data center growth in the UK.
On April 6, Infrastructure Masons held a sold-out iM Local Edition in London, generously hosted by Google. With attendance capped at 120 seats (priority given to iM members), demand quickly exceeded capacity. The event brought together passionate digital infrastructure leaders from across EMEA and the U.S., contributing to an engaging and insightful discussion.
The format followed the successful iM Local model: collaborative iM Think Tank sessions in the morning, followed by lightning presentations in the afternoon. In parallel, iM partner DCiRN hosted its Executive and Technical Advisory Council meetings, further strengthening the presence of global digital infrastructure leaders.
Simon Allen, Executive Director at iMasons, announced plans to launch six iM Local Chapters in EMEA by 2019—including the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Netherlands (Benelux), and Spain (Iberia). An EMEA Advisory Council is also in development and will be announced at the iM Leadership Meeting in November in London. Efforts to expand into APAC are also underway, with iM Local Chapters and an APAC Advisory Council planned for 2019.
