IM Local Edition – New York

On March 13th, 2017 we held our first Infrastructure Masons Local Edition Meetup at the IPSoft headquarters in lower Manhattan, New York. This was a members only event was limited to the first 100 end user and partner members.

Agenda:
IPSoft Introduction – Digital Labor
IPsoft introduced their Digital Labor Platforms (IPcenter, Amelia, & Apollo) that make it possible to transform business performance through the employment of digital labor by automating millions of IT and Business Processes for Enterprises across a wide range of industries.

Working Session 1 – Data Center Performance Rating System
Today’s data center standards do not represent the needs of infrastructure professionals. There is no standard way to objectively evaluate the performance of a data center portfolio including owned and leased locations. To compound this problem, most data center site selection processes are usually based on a checklist written by procurement teams or consultants, not on actual sustained performance of the data center. Members have shared that they contracted “Tier IV” data centers with providers guaranteeing 99.9999% availability, only to have them not meet their SLA. While there were financial penalties in the contracts about not meeting the availability SLA, it was pennies compared to the revenue impact from a single second of power loss. Dean Nelson led the working session where members discussed and debated a new rating system to measure the actual performance of the data center.

Working Session 2 – Membership Framework
In April of 2016, we established our membership framework profiling members careers in three categories – Experience, Economics and Stewardship. Each of these are well defined and have been applied to move than 500 of our members, including our senior members who attended the 2016 Leadership Summit. Our New York working session will tackle the fourth membership profile category – Sustainability. How do we quantify the work that our members have done? We need criteria that will apply to all members at all levels. Dean Nelson and Mark Monroe led the session where members provided input and guidance on defining the next dimension for technical infrastructure professionals.
