Because iMasons members “leave their badges at the door” in most settings, it is sometimes a challenge to gage a new colleague’s level of experience.  To help members recognize each other’s contributions, iMasons members are given ranks or levels based on their work and contributions to the industry based on a series of questions the member answers in their profile when they join iMasons.  Member Levels include Master, Fellow, Journey and Apprentice.  Members who opt out of answering the questions that determine level are recognized as “Members at Large” and don’t benefit from the privileges and recognition based on level.  The categories and dimensions that determine level are detailed below.

We are still developing the details of the fourth dimension of membership – Sustainability. This is a very important category that requires deeper thought and collaboration with other industry professionals to properly define. If you are interested in participating in this development, please contact admin@imasons.org.

Member Types

In addition to member levels, iMasons also has different types of membership based on the role the member plays in the industry.  Member types are detailed below.  Member type is determined by how the member answers a few questions during the “join” dialog.  The annual dues the member pays depend on member type.  Members can’t opt out of answering the questions that define membership type.  Member type is usually not apparent at meetings or in publications.

1. End User Members

End User Members are IT and facilities professionals who are directly responsible to design, build and/or operate the physical and logical structures for a company that provides infrastructure services primarily to their internal customers.

2. Partner Member

Partner members are employees or consultants whose primary job is directly or indirectly serving or supplying End Users or other partner companies that serve End Users.

3. Associate Member

An Associate member is an individual currently employed by a government agency, those attending full-time or employed by academic institutions, or those currently employed by non-profit organizations.

4. Honorary End User Member

An Honorary End User Member is a professional who has more than 10 years of End-User experience at a past company, or have been granted an exception by the End User Advisory Council.
