Bridging the Talent Gap
Education is a top priority in our digital infrastructure industry. Many of us who built this industry are nearing retirement, so we have a strong need for new talent to support our continued growth. The Education Champion award is given to an individual who has exemplified our ideals of helping align the education sector to prepare the next generation to continue to grow and improve this industry.
The 2021 Education Champion Award has been jointly awarded to Phillip Marangella, Chief Marketing Officer at EdgeConneX, Chheng Lim, Associate at Sheehan Nagle Hartray Architects, and Bill Kleyman, EVP of Digital Solutions at Switch.
The winners were recognized for their volunteer work over a period of two years to mentor the pilot Capstone student team at Hampton University last year, and then to carry the Capstone Project to three new universities this last fall. In the 2021/22 academic year these champions are supporting Capstone Projects at Hampton University, Morgan State, Prairie View A&M, and UT El Paso, all minority-serving institutions.
