BERKELEY, California – November 5, 2026 – Infrastructure Masons (“iMasons”) has accepted SemiValley Technologies into its Innovation Accelerator program. The decision reflects how directly SemiValley’s technology addresses one of the most urgent constraints in AI infrastructure: removing the rapidly rising heat generated by next-generation GPUs, without driving up energy use, water consumption, or reliance on environmentally problematic fluids.

Founded in March 2026, SemiValley is a Silicon Valley deep-tech startup commercialising patented two-phase liquid cooling technology that originated at UCLA and is backed by an exclusive UCLA IP licence. As AI chips push beyond the thermal limits of conventional single-phase liquid cooling, data centres face mounting challenges in cooling capacity, energy consumption, water usage, and scalability. SemiValley’s water-based, two-phase cold plate is designed to remove extreme heat loads with significantly lower coolant flow rates and pumping requirements.
What sets SemiValley apart is the way it combines three techniques in a single patented design. High-velocity micro-jets are directed onto the chip surface to break up thermal boundary layers and cool high-density hotspots more effectively than conventional microchannel cold plates. Controlled two-phase boiling uses water’s latent heat of vaporisation to remove far more heat per unit of coolant, while continuous vapour separation keeps boiling stable. Operating with water under controlled sub-atmospheric pressure, the system boils at around 60°C without PFAS-based refrigerants, opening the door to lower pumping energy, the elimination of mechanical chillers, and lower overall cooling costs. The technology has demonstrated 325 W/cm² heat flux, cooled an NVIDIA V100 GPU with just 0.15 L/min of water, and achieved up to 1.58 kW of heat removal at only 1 L/min in lab tests.
Having introduced its technology to the industry at the 2026 Open Compute Project (OCP) Global Summit, SemiValley is now focused on proving it at scale. Through the iMasons Accelerator, the company, which is also a member of the NVIDIA Inception program, will connect with the operators, integrators, and OEMs it needs to validate its technology from chip to rack to facility scale, while building the industry relationships, visibility, and thought leadership needed to help shape emerging standards for next-generation cooling.
For iMasons, SemiValley brings a chip-level, deep-tech perspective to the cooling challenge. As rack densities climb, how heat is removed at the silicon itself increasingly determines what is possible at the facility level, from chiller design to water and energy use. SemiValley’s PFAS-free approach also aligns closely with the sustainability priorities the iMasons community has championed, extending the Accelerator’s reach into advanced thermal management at a moment when it has become central to AI infrastructure.
“As AI chips push beyond the limits of conventional liquid-cooling, we believe water-based two-phase cooling can open new possibilities for the next generation of AI infrastructure. At SemiValley, we combine jet impingement, two-phase boiling, and vapor separation to cool high-power chips with extremely low coolant flow. We’re thrilled to join the iMasons Innovation Accelerator to work with industry leaders, validate our technology at scale, and accelerate commercial adoption,” said Boya Qu-Qizilbash, CEO & Co-Founder, SemiValley Technologies.
“Every new generation of AI chips raises the thermal bar, and the industry can’t keep meeting it by simply pushing more coolant and more energy through the system,” said Romain Tranchant, Chief Operating Officer and Head of Innovation Exchange at Infrastructure Masons. “SemiValley is tackling the problem at the chip itself, with a water-based, PFAS-free approach that removes more heat with far less flow. The response they received from the OCP community shows how much appetite there is for this kind of thinking. We’re glad to welcome SemiValley into the iMasons Accelerator and to connect them with the operators, integrators, and OEMs who can help take this technology from the lab to the data hall.”
