10 Principles. 1 Framework.
Trust is the first infrastructure. We frame ten principles into measurable commitments so infrastructure growth delivers real benefits to communities.
1. Give communities a voice before decisions are made
Engage communities early, disclose material impacts and alternatives, and document how community input shapes project decisions.
2. Build for the place
Design, site, and operate projects to protect the health, safety, environment, and quality of life of surrounding communities.
3. Protect ratepayers
Ensure project-specific power demand does not shift costs to existing residential and business customers. (Rate Payer Protection Pledge+)
4. Strengthen the power system
Plan for new demand in ways that improve supply, reliability, flexibility, storage and long-term grid resilience.
5. Manage local water resources
Set clear water-use targets based on local availability, measure performance, audit and report it publicly.
6. Create lasting local economic value
Deliver measurable local benefits through jobs, skills development, procurement, tax revenue and long-term economic opportunities.
7. Share the value created
Invest in priorities identified with the community, including education, connectivity, energy, healthcare and other locally determined needs.
8. Make commitments transparent and enforceable
Report performance publicly and establish credible independent review or assurance.
9. Reduce impact across the full lifecycle
Minimize environmental impacts from materials and construction through operations, maintenance, reuse and decommissioning.
10. Raise the standard over time
Review performance, incorporate proven innovations and strengthen commitments as technology, evidence and best practices advance.
