Why Texas, Why Now
Texas has become one of the most consequential digital infrastructure markets in the world, with its growth accelerating faster than almost anywhere else in the country.
This is not abstract growth. ERCOT projects the state may need to more than double its 2024 grid capacity, from 85 GW to as much as 218 GW by 2031. Texas has planned more than $30 billion in transmission upgrades to keep pace. Hyperscalers, colocation providers, and AI compute developers continue to announce campuses across the state, with OpenAI’s $500 billion Stargate initiative anchored in the state.
Growth at this scale brings extraordinary opportunity and equal responsibility. The challenges ahead, from energy and time-to-power, water stewardship, land use, community engagement, workforce development, to the policies governing all of the above, are too large and too interconnected for any one city, company, or sector to solve alone.
That is why Texas needs a unified Local Chapter.
Texas Local Chapter Leadership

The chapter unites all teammates across the state and its members to come together as One State, One Team. Our goal is to grow this Local Chapter by learning, sharing and reinforcing our efforts across different cities in Texas.
Bridging the Gap Between Stakeholders
The purpose of the Texas Local Chapter is to serve as a bridge between: the data center industry and the communities it operates in operators and the legislators technical experts the broader public seeking to understand what digital infrastructure means for their cities and their livesThe chapter is built to bring everyone into the conversation: communities and residents living near data center campuses; legislators, regulators, and local elected officials; utilities and energy providers; hyperscalers, colocation operators, and developers; engineers, contractors, and the broader supply chain; academic researchers and workforce partners; The chapter will also work hand-in-hand with iMasons’ Member Focus Groups, such as iMWomen, Armed Forces, LatinNet and Emerging Talent, to reinforce their mission in Texas.
Looking Ahead: Educating, Convening, and Driving Outcomes
The chapter’s work is grounded in education and open dialogue. Through events, working sessions, site visits, and joint programming, it brings stakeholders together to learn from one another and translate conversation into action. Success is measured not by attendance, but by impact — concrete outcomes, shared lessons learned, and a stronger, more connected Texas digital infrastructure ecosystem.

The Texas Local Chapter is also actively building partnerships across the ecosystem and welcomes collaboration with universities and academic institutions, policy organizations, utilities and energy stakeholders, community groups, industry leaders, and companies operating in or investing in Texas. Members are invited to help shape the agenda.
