iMasons Senior Capstone Recap
Many bachelors degrees in Engineering, Architecture, Business and other disciplines include a senior project designed to integrate the students’ learning and focus them on a real-world problem. iMasons has developed a senior Capstone Project to have teams of students site and then design the digital infrastructure needed to support the specs and growth forecast of a mobile phone app. The program was piloted at Hampton University, a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) in So. Virginia, USA for the 20/21 academic year.

Student Assignment
- Term 1: Develop a nationwide digital infrastructure architectural plan to support the latency and bandwidth requirements and the projected growth of a mobile phone app. Determine how many data centers are needed, where they should be located, and how big they should be. Identify candidate sites, evaluate them, and select specific sites to build DCs.
- Term 2: Design a data center on one of the selected sites. Develop site and floor plans, building elevation drawings, power and network connections, cooling approach, select all the necessary equipment, and develop CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
