Fireside Chat with Ali Fenn
During the November 10, 2020 End User Summit, Dean Nelson hosted a fireside chat with Ali Fenn, President at ITRenew.
Ali discusses her perspective as a participant in the Hardware Track at the End User Summit. She explains the concerns on control over efficiency within a company’s own hyperscale data center versus the efficiency within colocation facilities. Ali also reviews her experience participating on this track with her peers and how this is a much bigger conversation for the industry.
During her chat with iMasons founder and Chairman Dean Nelson, Ali discusses the need for increased utilization of sustainable equipment as a priority at ITRenew. She focuses on cost-effective, sustainable hyperscale equipment by taking advantage of the remaining life of the equipment without any compromise of performance. “This industry that we all work in is the largest industry in the world and it has immense potential for positive impact and positive outcomes”, Ali explains, “All of the advancements of this infrastructure carry with it a significant environmental tax”. (There is a 70% reduction in embedded carbon by repurposing this equipment!)
ITRenew is maximizing the full usage of the sustainable equipment already in use. Ali explains the ‘circular economy’ and what we should strive for moving forward in this industry. Find out more about ‘circular economy’, the amazing work Ali is doing at ITRenew and who is going to be successful five years from now.
