Fireside Chat
Fireside Chats have become a popular feature of iMason meetings. We welcomed Lincoln Heilner, Senior Associate at Macquarie Infrastructure & Real Assets as our fireside guest for this event.
Lincoln focuses on sourcing, evaluating and executing opportunities in the communications and technology infrastructure sector. Since joining MIRA in 2015, Lincoln has worked on the deployment of nearly a billion dollars of equity into the sector including MIRA’s 2016 investment in InSite Wireless Group, the second largest privately held tower operator in the U.S., its 2018 investment in Aligned Energy, a wholesale datacenter operator and developer, and its pending 2019 acquisition of Bluebird Networks, a Missouri-based fiber business. He is also responsible for asset management across MIRA’s North American communications infrastructure platform.
Lincoln shared his thoughts on data centers in the context of infrastructure investors and their priorities. The movement of infrastructure money into this sector is not only interesting, but creates differences in how investors look at the sector.
EdgeMasons
The EdgeMasons are a group of leaders at the forefront of Edge technology who come together, leaving their companies at the door, to work together as peers to support the community.
Participants of EdgeMasons gatherings work in small teams to consider important issues where collaboration would be helpful to the development of the sector.
The Untethered Generation
Digital Sociologist Dr. Julie Albright, discussed an emerging phenomenon “The Untethered Generation” – How our ties to people, places, jobs, traditional processes, and organising structures in society are being weakened or broken – displaced by digital hyper-connectivity. Julie also talked about other topics covered in her new book ‘Left to Their Own Devices: How Digital Natives Are Reshaping the American Dream’.
Bonus: iMason’s top strategic initiative for 2019 is our $1Million Challenge to raise money for scholarships. Attendees who donated $100 to the IM Scholarship Fund received a signed copy of Dr. Albright’s book.
